Love roadtripping and hate arriving at a charger with a cold battery? This retrofit kit is for you. This kit maps a manual preconditioning button onto the steering wheel star button. The firmware is updatable by drag-and-drop so you don't have to spend time downloading to a USB stick when there are updates.
Kit includes:
- Custom wiring harness
- Microcontroller (WiCAN-OBD-C3)
- Sticky pad and zip ties for secure, non-destructive attachment
- (If selected) installation tools: trim removal tools and a Phillips #2 L-key
Installation involves some partial removal of trim. Please review install instructions or watch the Ioniq 5 video install guide before purchasing. Any car audio shop will be willing to help if you don't feel comfortable with installation, but it might be a good idea to ask for their pricing first before ordering.
We can only guarantee functionality for the following vehicles: 2021-2024 Ioniq 5, EV6, and 2023-2025 Ioniq 6 with the 'Battery Conditioning Mode' screen present. Please contact us at requests@electroniqbuttons.com if you would like to order a product like this for a different vehicle. In particular, support for the Genesis GV60 is likey possible but requires additional work, which we can do if there is demand.
Beta test: a customized WiCAN for this application is coming; for the beta test, we are shipping a stock WiCAN-OBD-C3. Everything works, but messages on the dash are flickery in this configuration. You will have the option of a free trade-in or discounted purchase of the non-flickery customized WiCAN when available. For this swap, you will need to learn how to switch harness modes.
This button does not remove the minimum 20% SOC required to start preconditioning. That limit is internal to the BMU and would require ECU reprogramming to change.
Warning: there is risk of damage associated with installation of almost anything in a car. We have done our best to document proper installation and test the kit, but we are not responsible for damage to your car. We highly recommend removal of all aftermarket devices and accessories when taking a car in for warranty service for best diagnosis, especially if the aftermarket device is visible to dealership technicians during the course of service. Specifically, if your head unit dies (this happened to us twice long before development of this product began), we recommend de-installation of this kit before taking your car in for service.
Wiring harness temperature specification: -40°C to +125°C
